Maria Corina Machado’s daughter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her mother’s behalf, after the Venezuelan opposition leader confirmed at the last minute that she would not be attending in person. Machado has been living in hiding for over a year and it’s thought the decision was due to security concerns. But the Nobel Committee chairman confirmed that Machado is safe and will be in Oslo.
